| Tell us about your role in film Jungle? It's about this young lad who falls in love with a girl, but she is kidnapped and taken away into the jungle by this villainous character. It's all about how I try to save her and get back to civilisation. I won't say anything more, because that would be letting the cat out of the bag. I'd rather you checked it out for yourself. But the treatment of the film is really great. I'm sure it will go down well with the audience.
With 'Prem Aggan' you were being hailed as the hottest newcomer on the block…suddenly today there is competition in the form of Hrithik Roshan and Abhishek Bachchan too. What is your strategy in terms of movies and roles to combat the competition? Well I think there is enough space for all of us. The industry is a big place and it has something for everybody. It is the media which plays up the competition angle. I think both Hrithik and Abhishek are good. But I don't see any reason to feel threatened in any way. I have absolutely no strategy to combat competition. I believe that my work will speak for myself. Just watch out for my future releases. You've been rather low profile these days does it have anything to do with 'Prem Aggan' not doing as well as expected? No, nothing of the sort. It was not a conscious decision. I'd rather not sign every film that comes my way. I prefer to choose and pick. Of late I guess I was just too involved with the job. When Ramu offered me a film, I knew this would be my next film. It was great shooting for 'Jungle' and I enjoyed the experience. Now that the film has been completed, guess you will see more of me. Your father has cast you in another film, also starring Ajay Devgan? Tell us about the film? To tell you the truth, I don't believe in talking about a film before it is ready. In this case too, I would rather not tell you anything about the film. All in due time. How is it that your dad is casting you in a two-hero film? Being a home production wouldn't you have rather wished for a solo hero project, especially to undo what went wrong with 'Prem Aggan'? Look, I don't decide who the cast is. And my criteria for selecting a film isn't to check whether it is a one-hero project or a two-hero project. If I like the director's style, if I like my role and the story and script, I sign the film. I believe in doing my job to the best of my ability, the rest, the audience will decide. Coming back to 'Jungle', the film is a Ram Gopal Varma film, with Urmila in it as well as Sunil Shetty. Knowing Ram Gopal Varma's "supposed" penchant for casting Urmila, aren't you worried about being overshadowed being the newest and rawest actor among the three of you? Of course not. I have full faith in my director. Ramu is not someone who will let anything come in the way of his job. And he is fair. He is one director I admire a lot. His style of working, his direction. I think he is simply the tops.
Can you tell us about the secret woman in your life? I'd rather not talk about my personal life. I think that is something very private. Aren't you ever going to consider going back to the U.S or is it Bollywood for good? I think Bollywood is the place for me. I have absolutely no intention of going to the US.. What other projects are you involved with right now? There's a film with E. Niwas and also the home production. There are others too but they're still in the initial stages. And like I said, I wouldn't like to talk about them right now. |
