What is Main Madhuri Dixit Banna Chahti Hoon (MMDBCH) all about?
MMDBCH is the story of a young girl Chutki who is a Madhuri Dixit fan and dreams of making it as big as her idol. She is obsessed with being a big star and also actually becoming Madhuri Dixit. The movie traces Chutki’s journey from a small village to the big bad world of the film industry.

How was it trying to match Madhuri step for step?
There is only one Madhuri Dixit and it is very hard to match up to her. Copying her looks, and dressing style was easy but there is a certain charm that she has, certain expressions which are very Madhuri. It is difficult to copy those charms and nuances but I have tried. Having said that, I also believe that being an actor it is my job to deliver — be it an easy performance or a tough one.

Your last movie was Road.
Yes. It was a conscious decision to stay away since I have been very clear about the roles I want right from the very beginning. I do not want to essay characters that I have played before, roles in which only my clothes will be different. After Road I was determined not to be typecast. People might say it all the time, but I truly want to be different.

Does that mean we will not get to see you in a regular love story?
I really don’t know about that. The only thing I am certain of is that I will perhaps even make that look unusual.

  Who does Antara Mali want to be?
I do not have any real life idols. I am always striving towards what I, personally, am capable of.
