Asin's $50 m next with Kamal Haasan Asin, who is making her debut with Aamir Khan's 'Ghajini', is already going places in Mumbai, even before her first film hits
the screens. The actress has already bagged two new projects. Asin has agreed to star in Vipul Shah's Salman Khan Ajay
Devgan starrer London Dreams, in which she will be paired opposite Salman. Now it's heard that the actress has been
signed by Walt Disney for their next venture 19 Steps opposite Kamal Haasan. The film will also star Japanese actor Asano
Tadanobu. This multi lingual film, to be made in Tamil, English and Japanese, will be directed by Bharat Bala.
The shooting of the $50 million film is likely to start in the summer of 2009. The film will have music by A.R. Rahman. The
Bala Rahman combo has produced unforgettable music video documentaries like Jana Gana Mana and Vande Mataram.
Kamal Haasan is slated to play a veteran Kalaripayattu expert who takes it upon himself to train a young Japanese man,
Tadanobu Asano. Asin is to play a local princess and a martial arts expert who finds herself falling in love with Asano in
this period film. The film also traces the roots of Kalaripayattu, the martial arts form from Kerala.
The actress has also signed a film to be directed by Priyadarshan, opposite Akshay Kumar. This sure makes Asin one of
the hottest newcomers with films opposite the big boys, even before 'Ghajini' hits theatres. Asin, it is said, has been refusing
offers from down South as she is busy in Bollywood. The actress is more keen on making her career in Mumbai. |
