Celina to light up SA for Diwali
Celina Jaitley, whose family comes from an Army background says that ever since she has moved to Mumbai, she has
been missing the Diwali celebrations in the Army cantonment. The actress says, "We used to have Lakshmi puja after
which there would be firing in the air to welcome the New Year. The festivities were a part of my life. The celebrations
would start from Dusshera. We used to do puja of all the firearms and everyone dressed for the occasion."
However, Celina will not be in town for Diwali this year as she is going to South Africa. "I will be in South Africa since
the Indian community there has invited me to celebrate with them. I will be their guest of honour. I have a big fan base
in Johannesburg. People from various backgrounds will be coming together. I will promote my film Golmaal Returns as
well," she says.
On this festive occasion, Celina says that she truly appreciates the spirit of Mumbai. "I have been to almost every city
in India but it's only the public in Mumbai that help you out when you're in need. My brother, who is an Army officer, was
recently in a serious accident where he was based. He was lying on the road in his uniform and bleeding badly but not
a single person stopped to help him. It is only in Mumbai that people help each other," Celina says. "I sometimes think
that people have become too selfish to think about anyone else. They don't think that the person in trouble could be
someone's son, brother or husband. By God's grace, my brother's fine now," she adds. |
