Tips happy with Sharman's success
Atul Agnihotri's 'Hello' managed a surprisingly good opening at its opening weekend in spite of having been written off by
the critics. Tips, who is not the producer of 'Hello', is rejoicing due to Sharman Joshi's performance in the film. Just few
months ago, Tips signed Sharman in the lead for their film 'Toh Baat Pakki'. Many industry people had raised their
eyebrows at this decision to sign a not so popular actor as a main lead. It was a big risk for Ramesh Taurani of Tips,
whose film also stars another Vatsal Seth and Tabu. It's usually the big stars that pull in the crowds initially but Sharman
has managed the impossible. The critics and the audience have liked Sharman's role. He played the character of Shyam in
'Hello'.
Ramesh is heaving a sigh of relief that he can look forward to a good opening for his film like 'Hello'. He is also keen on
Vatsal's film, 'Heroes', which is releasing in two weeks from now. "Critics are not admitting that 'Hello' has had a fantastic
opening and is officially a hit," says Atul. "Rs 6 crores in three days (not counting overseas collections) is no mean feat
and not admitting to it won't make the facts go away," he adds. Adds writer Chetan Bhagat, who wrote One Night @ a
Call Centre on which 'Hello' is based, says, "The trade is sitting and scratching their heads; the reviewers are in the denial
stage!" |
