Vidya tries to perfect acting
After the success of 'Kismat Konnection', Vidya is taking pains for her forthcoming film 'Ishqiya' with
Vishal Bharadwaj. Vidya first started getting into the skin of her character by learning the dialect of Hindi
used in UP and now she is taking driving lessons. The actress just finished a 10 day workshop with her
idol Naseeruddin Shah, who also stars in the film alongwith Arshad Warsi. The character that Vidya is
playing in Ishqiya is a very complex character, which is very difficult to enact. Vidya thought that the best
way to emote on screen would be to learn from Naseeruddin Shah because the veteran actor was a master
at it. She was ecstatic to be discussing cinema with him. Even though they ended up discussing the film
and cinema at length instead of participating in the workshop, Vidya still treasures the experience and is
looking forward to working with Naseer in the film.
Vidya's success in Bollywood came with Parineeta. Despite doing Bengali and South Indian films, she had
to go through 40 screen tests and 17 makeup shoots before she was finally chosen for the lead role in the
film. The actress went on to prove her talent in films like Bhool Bhulaiya and Guru. Apart from her film
work, she spends most of her time doing charity work. She is associated with AmFar (Americans for
AIDS Research) and Hale House, a home for children born with HIV and affected by drug addiction. She
also involves herself with the Harvard AIDS Institute, by hosting forums and participating in events
throughout the year. |
